Stem cell coating may aid vascular tissue regeneration

Researchers at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, have developed a polymer coating designed to improve the adherence of stem cells to inflamed blood vessels, which could help heal vascular tissues in people with chronic diseases such as diabetes. The study showed that twice as many modified stem cells stuck to a sheet of endothelial tissue compared with standard stem cells. The results appear in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
