Soldiers need social tools, says DoD official

Deputy Defense Secretary William J. Lynn III toured Facebook's offices this week and took the opportunity to talk up social media's role in boosting the nation's security and military capabilities. Social tools help military families stay in touch, boost recruitment efforts and are transforming intelligence efforts, Lynn said. "We use social media just as other organizations do," he added.
