Ark. mandates teaching to the whole child

Arkansas Gov. Michael Beebe has signed a bill into law that establishes a statewide plan to educate the whole child. Under the bill, which mentions ASCD's Whole Child Initiative, schools now will be required to take into consideration students' health, safety, engagement and other factors. Similar approaches are being considered in other states.
