Biosphere 2 returns to life as climate-change test ground

Biosphere 2 is getting a second life and will provide a physical model that tests the processes, effects and consequences of climate change. The massive structure was used in the 1990s to test whether engineered Earth systems could support human life. The project by the University of Arizona now underway will include the installation of three sloping 398-square-yard convergent landscapes.
