Calif. panel endorses increases in minimum wage

The California Assembly's Labor and Employment Committee has endorsed boosting the state's $8-an-hour minimum wage to $8.25 next year. The bill calls for the wage to rise another 50 cents in 2015 and to $9.25 an hour in 2016. After that, there would be automatic increases, based on the state's inflation rate.
