Complaint alleges Novartis gave kickbacks to physicians

The U.S. has again filed suit against Novartis, this time alleging that the company used kickbacks to influence doctors to prescribe the company's drugs. "Novartis reaped dramatically increased profits on these drugs, and Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health-care programs were left holding the bag," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement. Novartis disputes the allegations, a spokeswoman said.
