Facebook Home gives social network an ad advantage

Facebook's new Facebook Home software for Android devices -- which functions as a cross between an operating system and an application -- may be driven by new data indicating that publishers now have the advantage over ad networks in terms of mobile display ad spending. Facebook Home, in effect, turns Facebook into a publisher, giving it more control over its platform and the ability to gather more valuable consumer information for advertisers, writes Rohit Dadwal.
