Hedge fund managers see mutual funds as a path to growth

Hedge funds are increasingly launching mutual funds pursuing hedge fund strategies to increase assets and acquire a bigger and more diversified client base. In the five years that ended Dec. 31, total assets of hedge fund mutual funds, sometimes called liquid alternative funds, increased 140%, to $90.3 billion, according to a Morningstar analysis.
