Ireland faces an oversupply of primary teachers

Ireland is predicting an ongoing surplus of primary-school teachers, meaning that many students are training for jobs that will not exist. The issue has led Education Minister Ruairi Quinn to reach out to the teachers' union in an effort to help enact better forecasting procedures. Still, Quinn is unable to control how many students universities enroll in their teaching programmes.
