Long-term diabetes linked to renal condition, study finds

Higher hemoglobin A1C levels and longer duration of disease were associated with increased risk of microalbuminuria in type 1 diabetes patients, according to a study in Diabetes Care. However, keeping blood glucose and blood pressure levels in check may help reduce the risk of nephropathy, researchers said.
