Middle-school students collaborate on global engineering project

Eighth-grade students at Brookwood School in Manchester, Mass., are participating along with students from Brazil, Africa and India in the Global Efficient Cook Stove Education Project, a project designed to teach them about energy and engineering as well as worldwide humanitarian needs, journalist Suzie Boss writes in this blog post. The project has students using Skype to collaborate with their peers and consult with engineers around the world as they design and build low-cost, efficient cook stoves that could be used in third-world countries.
