Pediatricians: Hospitals, birthing centers safest places to give birth

Hospitals and birthing centers are the safest settings for birth, but home deliveries may be an option for some pregnant women who are due to have a single, on-time baby, the American Academy of Pediatrics said. In a policy statement in the journal Pediatrics, the group recommends the presence of a certified nurse-midwife, certified midwife or doctor during home births.
