Project is aimed at raising La. levee

A Nevada-based contractor has won a $41.6 million contract from the Army Corps of Engineers for a levee-elevation project to help protect Louisiana's Plaquemines Parish from surges that would occur during a 50-year storm. The upgrade is among the 17 nonfederal levee projects to be built from New Orleans to Venice, La., the Corps of Engineers said.
