Review supports same-day release after PCI

A review of 12,803 patients from 37 studies found no more complications in low-risk angioplasty patients who were released the same day than those who recovered overnight in the hospital, according to a report in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Stanford School of Medicine researchers found no increased risk in sending home "carefully selected patients," including those younger than 75 who live within an hour of a hospital and who have sufficient support.
