Vt. residents may ask: Who needs Google Fiber?

Vermont Telephone has signed up several hundred residential customers for gigabit Internet service from a new fiber network, charging $35 a month. With $94 million in federal stimulus grants, VTel has installed 1,200 miles of fiber in rural Vermont communities. The telecom plans to offer the faster Internet service to all of its 17,500 customers by the middle of next year.
