Blumenthal: Widespread health IT adoption needs government support:

The government should be more involved and not rely solely on the private sector in promoting the widespread adoption of electronic health records in the U.S., said Dr. David Blumenthal, head of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. Blumenthal is in charge of spending the $19 billion fund for programs that would encourage doctors and hospitals to use EHRs.
