Coalition emphasizes government role in advancing the smart grid

Countries around the world are committed to adopting next-generation energy solutions that increase infrastructure security and lower carbon emissions, but on a global scale, transitioning to the smart grid is best served by government involvement and strong collaboration among states, according to the Global Smart Grid Federation. An analysis of efforts in the federation's eight member states found that despite significant progress, educating consumers and engaging utilities to make the necessary investments in technology remain the biggest challenges.
