Shell, Iogen pull the plug on Canadian cellulosic-ethanol project

Royal Dutch Shell and Iogen have canceled plans to develop a commercial-scale cellulosic-ethanol plant in Manitoba, the companies said. Up to 150 jobs will be cut as a result of the project's cancellation. Iogen Energy said the decision won't affect jobs at its headquarters in Ottawa and that it still plans to continue development of technology for cellulosic-ethanol production.
