US Airways merger would preserve jobs, American Airlines union says

Officials from the Transport Workers Union said a US Airways merger with American Airlines would preserve more than 3,500 American Airlines jobs. US Airways presented the plan to three major unions at American, but has not yet made a formal offer for the carrier. AMR Corp., the parent company of American Airlines, filed for bankruptcy in November.
