Criticisms of EHR incentive program are misguided, ONC official says

Six Republican senators recently argued that the federal EHR incentive effort may not be achieving its goals, citing a lack of widespread interoperability within the industry. Speaking at a recent conference, Judy Murphy, the ONC's deputy national coordinator for programs and policy, called such arguments misguided. "[T]hat's not what we were trying to accomplish in stage 1. Stage 2 is about patient engagement and interoperability," she said.
