FDA will probe safety of added caffeine in foods

Prompted by the launch of Wrigley's caffeinated gum, Alert Energy Gum, this week, the FDA announced on Monday that it will investigate the safety of adding caffeine to foods and its impact on children and teens' health. The increasing number of foods with added caffeine is "beyond anything FDA envisioned," FDA's Michael Taylor said.
