HHS finds lack of awareness about new privacy rules

Many health care organizations are unaware of the new HIPAA privacy rules set forth in the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, according to an HHS Office for Civil Rights analysis of data-security problems. New rules on safeguarding patient data and reporting breaches apply not only to health care providers but also to subcontractors and business associates.
