A Canadian study revealed women with preeclampsia and gestational hypertension were twice as likely as their healthier peers to develop diabetes more than 16 years after pregnancy. Researchers also found preeclampsia or gestational hypertension further increased the risk of postpartum diabetes in women with gestational diabetes. The results appear in PLoS Medicine.
