Intel slates introduction of redesigned Atom processor

Intel has scheduled a news conference for Monday to announce the "Silvermont" micro-architecture for its line of low-power Atom processors. The redesigned chip will be implemented into smartphones and tablet computers, as well as microservers and data-center gear, Brooke Crothers writes. This is the first redesign of the processor since 2008.
