Littoral combat ship experiences propulsion problem on first deployment

The littoral combat ship USS Freedom has been rendered unable to move because of a problem with its propulsion system. The crew noticed the issue 10 days after the ship arrived in Singapore on its first deployment. "It's not uncommon for some of these tubes to fail, from time to time," Navy spokesman Lt. Anthony Falvo said.
