Mediterranean-style diet may reduce cognitive decline, study says

A study of 17,000 people living in the 11-state region of the U.S. South that's sometimes referred to as "the Stroke Belt" showed that those who adhered to a Mediterranean-style diet were 13% less likely to have cognitive impairment compared with those who did not follow the diet. The study in Neurology found that people with diabetes did not get the cognitive protection from following a Mediterranean diet.
