Oatmeal better than ready-to-eat cereal for fullness

Research funded by PepsiCo finds people who eat oatmeal stay fuller longer than people who opt for ready-to-eat cereal. The extrusion process typically used for ready-to-eat cereal "changes the molecular weight of the fiber itself," said Marianne O'Shea, PepsiCo senior director of nutrition research and development. "The soluble fiber is the component that influences satiety."
