Officials: Sequestration cuts have no direct impact on Alaska firefighting

Automatic budget cuts are unlikely to have direct effects on Alaska's efforts to fight wildfire this year, according to officials with the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. While state firefighters are ready for fire season, residents should help curb human-caused fires so that the state can focus on fires caused by lightning and other natural factors, said Dean Brown, deputy state forester.
