Permit to raise Bayonne Bridge could come by week's end

The $1.3 billion project to raise the Bayonne Bridge between New York and New Jersey could receive a permit from the U.S. Coast Guard as early as Friday, according to this article. The Skanska Koch, Inc./Kiewit Infrastructure Co. consortium has been awarded a $743.3 million contract to work on the project. The fact that the contract was awarded before the permit has some questioning whether enough of an environmental review had been conducted.
