Proposal could mean 1.1% Medicare boost for hospices

CMS proposed a rule on Monday that would provide a 1.1% Medicare pay increase to hospices in fiscal 2014, amounting to about $180 million. The rule also would change quality reporting for hospices and would require facilities to stop using general diagnoses, such as debility, and instead bill using codes reflecting a patient's principal, underlying diagnosis.
