Quickservice chains win over the French, survey says

Quickservice chains now account for 54% of all restaurant sales in France, according to food consultancy firm Gira Conseil, a significant shift in a country known for its fine-dining culture. Western chains including Subway and Burger King have been in expansion mode there since about 2000; meanwhile, the typical French lunch break fell from 80 minutes in 1975 to 22 minutes in 2011.
