Rapid resting heart rate may predict heart failure risk in men

Older men with a heart rate of 79 beats per minute or higher are at about double the risk of developing heart failure, compared with men with slower heart rates, researchers found. The study failed to find a similar connection in women. The findings were reported at the annual meeting of the European Society of Cardiology.
