RDs need to know science behind ergogenic aids, experts say

Registered dietitians should know the science behind nutritional ergogenic or performance-enhancing aids such as caffeine, chromium picolinate, creatine and whey protein, and keep an open mind when advising athletes, experts said. RD Heather Mangieri said dismissing ergogenic aids "breaks trust" with clients and jeopardizes an important chance to educate them.
