Russia pledges to modernize pharma, expand domestic sector

Russia plans to establish six model "biopharma" centers, facilitate the adherence by domestic drug manufacturers to international good manufacturing practices by next year, and ensure that Russian drugmakers control 50% of the market by 2020, according to Sergey Tsyb of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. Tsyb, who spoke last week at the BIO International Convention in Chicago, said, "We are here to facilitate new collaborations and remind our international colleagues that the Russian pharma sales environment is healthy and we are open to collaboration."
