Saudi official: New reserves boost U.S. presence in energy markets

The U.S. is expected to become more active in the international energy market with the discovery of new fossil fuel reserves, said Ali al-Naimi, Saudi Arabia's petroleum and natural resources minister. Al-Naimi, however, said the prospect of North America achieving energy independence is "naive and simplistic," as it "fails to recognize the interconnected nature of global energy markets."
