SoftBank OKs limited Sprint-DISH talks, criticizes offer

SoftBank's chief executive has fired back against DISH Network's competing offer for Sprint Nextel even after the Japanese carrier gave Sprint permission to engage DISH in limited talks over its $25.5 billion takeover bid. Masayoshi Son told reporters today that SoftBank has no intention of raising its $20.1 billion offer for 70% control of the U.S. telecom. "Our price offer is better than theirs. Our timing is one year quicker at least. Our leverage is much more healthy," Son said. SoftBank's play for Sprint has been backed by Intel chief Paul Otellini.
