Statman: Get to know your clients

Financial advisers need to know their clients and their clients' fears and concerns to be successful, behavioral finance expert Meir Statman said in an address to the Investment Management Consultants Association. "Anyone can do an asset allocation plan, what is the difference is the kind of emotional contact you establish with your clients, and one way to do that is to reveal some of your own vulnerabilities," he said.
