Study examines vitamin D dosage for breastfed babies

A daily supplement of 1,600 international units of vitamin D3 increased plasma levels among healthy, term, breastfed babies after three months, reaching some pediatric groups' higher target level, according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Researchers found that reduced doses of the supplement elevated plasma concentrations to the Institute of Medicine's lower target level.
