W.Va. teacher blends geography, math with love of motocross

Fourth-graders in teacher Stephanie Crow's class at Elm Grove Elementary School in Wheeling, W.Va., are following the season of a professional motocross racer, not just as fans, but because his race times and locations are providing fun ways to learn math and geography. Crow, a motocross fan, said her students track racer Daniel Herrlein's stops on a map, and graph his race and lap times to help learn concepts such as mean, median, mode and range.
