Birmingham constantly reinvents itself

Birmingham, Ala., sprouted up around intersecting railroad lines in the 1870s. Since then, this cool city in the Deep South has transformed itself to keep up with modern times. However, it also honors its past with a variety of interesting tributes, including a 56-foot cast-iron sculpture of the Roman god of fire and forge, a nod to its days as a leader in the iron industry.
