Time Warner Cable announces big gains in Q1

Time Warner Cable in the first quarter added 55,000 basic-cable subscribers and 304,000 broadband customers -- both beating Wall Street forecasts -- on its way to earning revenue of $4.2 billion, an 8% increase. The country's second-largest cable provider is in the process of being completely spun off by current parent Time Warner.
