Automated program reduces 9-1-1 response time in Roanoke, Va.

Response times have been reduced by as much as 30 seconds in Roanoke, Va., thanks to technology that gets crucial information to fire department and emergency medical services first responders faster. Communications supervisor Joshua Mason said the program allows dispatchers to multitask "because they can pull the call up, read it, send the appropriate units, while still assisting other emergency callers on the phone."
