10gen is offering the MongoDB Backup Service, hosted storage for its database customers to be released widely this summer. Restoring data will require two-factor authentication, and should benefit small and medium-sized businesses, the company said. "It allows them to focus on building out applications instead of worry about this operational part of the infrastructure," said 10gen's Kelly Stirman. MongoDB customers include Craigslist, Disney, eBay, Electronic Arts, Foursquare, Intuit, LexisNexis, MTV and Salesforce.com, Joab Jackson writes.
