Amtrak celebrates 42nd anniversary; pushes for more funding

May 1 marked 42 years since Amtrak began operations, and Amtrak's CEO used the anniversary to call on Congress to provide greater funding for the passenger rail line. "It is time for dedicated, multi-year federal operating and capital funding for Amtrak and intercity passenger rail," CEO Joseph Boardman said. "Our customers and our nation have waited for 42 years too long already."
