First-grade teachers in Iowa focus on students' reading skills

First-grade teachers and reading interventionists at Paul Norton Elementary School in Bettendorf, Iowa, have been spending time each day working on literacy skills with students who have been grouped by reading ability. Educators are using data to regularly assess students' reading skills to comply with the state's response-to-intervention program, with some schools next year to receive additional help from the Iowa Reading Corps to provide assistance to students.
