Generic drugs drive 23% profit gain at CVS

CVS Caremark's profit increased 23% in the first quarter compared with Q1 of 2012. The better-than-expected result was driven largely by a slew of new, higher-margin generic drugs. A strong flu season, additional clients and Medicare prescription-drug plans also boosted results for the nation's second-largest pharmacy chain.
