Pioneering shin-bone transplant helps patient walk again

Dr. Nadr Jomha, an orthopedic surgeon at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic in Alberta, Canada, has performed a shin-bone transplant on a patient whose injuries included a dislocated knee and a tear in the leg's main blood vessel. Jomha found a match through a tissue program in Calgary, and the patient, who also received meniscus and cartilage tissue, has begun walking and has achieved his range of motion.
