Report maps strategy for improving care at reduced costs

The Brookings Institution has issued a report outlining an approach to patient-centric care that aims to enhance care at lower costs. Recommendations offered by the report include moving from the traditional fee-for-service model to one that lets providers receive one payment for all Medicare services. Phased-in implementation of these recommendations in the next 10 years could save the U.S. at least $300 billion, the report notes.
