A roofing system from 2001 Company in Waterbury, Conn., is guaranteed to withstand winds up to 150 mph and comes with a wind rider, according to this article. The "wind-vented roof systems" do so by using "equalizer" vents that harness wind pressure to make the roof stay on top of the building. The roof system does not use special fasteners or tar, and it is most appropriate for flat or low-slope roofs on large buildings.
