Sunflower seed husks added to reduce cracking of concrete

At the Namik Kemal University in Turkey, researchers have discovered that the use of sunflower seed husks, when added to a concrete mix, lowers its density while making it more resistant to cracking after exposure "to icy then thawing conditions." The mixture can be used for Turkey's usual one-story agricultural structures that "don’t require the level of load bearing support that conventional concrete provides."
